The Nature Detectives website is full of ideas for learning about nature and outdoor learning.

Young Science Investigators

The Young Science Investigators website has animations and simulations of experiments to try. Great for introducing topics, and comparing findings of your own experiments. There are printable investigations and worksheets too.

The Scottish Book Trust

The Scottish Book Trust has a range of resources, from teaching resources to toolkits for CPD and more.

Websites worth exploring

Topic Box is a fab website that will save you Googling for teaching resources. It's a massive bank of games and presentations, organised by curriculum area. Suitable for all stages.


Teacher's Pet is useful for display. There are signs, labels, posters and flashcards. Unfortunately, the activities section has a charge, but the display section is all free.

Teaching Library is part of the Teaching Ideas website, and is full of resources to support reading. There are loads of activities to accompany a range of books and novels, including cross-curricular ideas and video clips. Thank you to Kathryn for suggesting this one!

Children can use their knowledge of punctuation to save the day in this great little game. You can either play it above, or click here to go to the BBC Bitesize page. Probably suitable for P4 and up.

Storybird

Storybird is a beautiful creative website where children can make their own online story books, using a huge range of artwork. This video gives a quick guide to getting started. You can make class accounts to keep all your children's stories together. Well worth a look.

Word Tamer - fab site for writing

Word Tamer is a spooky little website with lots of inspiring ideas to motivate writers. There are sections on genre, setting, plot, character and words, and certificates can be printed once a section is completed.

This game can be played by one or two players to practice choosing the right connective for a sentence. Click here.


ICT games

This site is full of fantastic games for your class to play, either on the Smartboard or class computer. It's mainly for Early and First levels, but there's a few good things for Second level too.
