Smartboard Resources
Click here for the Modern Chalkboard website. There are a few good interactive activities based mainly on maths and grammar, but also some science and social studies files too. You need to download the Smartboard files to use, but it's quick, easy and FREE!

Easter
Sorry about the formatting below! Hope you can still make sense of it...
A site with activities for your Smart Board - click here
The fantastic Communication4all website has resources here
A version of the Easter story for middle/ upper school is here
The Brick Testament website has the Easter story in quite a lot off detail here. Be careful with this website though, not all of the stories are suitable for showing to children.

Chinese New Year
I've listed below some websites with interactive activities and videos to show your class. These would be good to share together in your classrooms, or could be used as lessons in the ICT suite.
The BBC Learning Zone Class Clips website has many more videos about China here
Yong's China Quest Adventure is a fantastic game for children to play and learn about aspects of China as they solve puzzles. Probably suitable for p4 and up.
One of my favourites - The Poisson Rouge website has a section with Mandarin here where children can click on pictures and hear how to say the word in Mandarin - while best for nursery, P1 and P2, this would probably be great for all ages!
The fab Language of the Month website (which Jane mentioned at our development session recently) can be found here, and has Cantonese and Mandarin. These would be great to use on your Smartboards.
The Mylo website has some activities that children could work through on their own in the ICT suite. While the site is designed for Secondary school, children in P5-7 would probably manage some of the simpler activities.

Safer Internet Day
There's a list of resources available if you'd like to do any lessons on Internet Safety here
Some of the highlights:
For nursery, P1 and P2 there's an interactive book and lesson plans with Smartie the Penguin here.
For P3 and up, the Smart Crew resources look good.
For older pupils, I really like the look of the Facebook privacy settings checklist - this would be great for discussion. While our pupils shouldn't be on Facebook, I think it's worthwhile discussing the complexities of the privacy settings and why the site is unsuitable for under 13s. You can download it here along with guidance on how to control Facebook privacy settings.
Think U Know, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre's website has resurces for all ages, and this year have made an interactive video about older children trying to post videos online to get a million hits, in which you get to decide what happens. You can watch the trailer below.
Safer Internet Day - Quick and easy resources
This Tuesday (5th February) is Safer Internet Day. A great way to get your class to think about internet safety would be to use the images at Teaching Ideas and using these as a basis for co-operative group or class discussions. It could take five minutes or as long as you like, but no matter how long it will be worthwhile.

Robert Burns - some websites
Here are some links to websites with information on the life of Robert Burns, and clips of his poetry and music:
The amazing SCRAN website has a huge amount of useful information as well as audio clips and downloadable podcasts. You have to log in to SCRAN either using your Glow password (if you know it...!) or you can request free access which just takes a couple of minutes. (It's well worth spending some time on SCRAN or booking on one of their introductory CPD courses to get used to all the features of this amazing site).
robertburns.org.uk - a website full of resources collected by the world's second oldest Burns club.
http://www.robertburns.org.uk/ - this website holds a vast repository of resources related to the life, times and works of Robert Burns, including resources specific to each of the sites associated with the life of Robert Burns. There is also a host of resources aimed at schools for different age-groups.
Education Scotland have an extensive site with resources on teaching using Scots language, as well as a specific area on the songs, poems and life of Robert Burns. There are audio files to listen to songs and poetry - really useful!
